Youth Orchestra Europe Tour Bon Voyage Concert June 16, 2018

See the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra musicians off on their 2018 European Tour. Join us for a Bon Voyage Concert, Saturday, June 16, at 3:00PM in Weill Hall at Sonoma State University's Green Music Center. Conductor Dr. Richard Loheyde will lead some of Northern California's best young musicians in the program they'll be taking to Salzburg, Vienna, and Budapest June 19–June 28.

The program includes:  Academic Festival Overture, Johannes Brahms; Ciranda das sete notes, Heitor Villa-Lobos (Chloe Watson, bassoon)*; Klezmer Heritage Concerto, Jason Eckl (with Rebecca Roudman & Dirty Cello); Overture to Candide, Leonard Bernstein; Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 in D minor, Franz Liszt; Peer Gynt Suites No 1 and 2, Edvard Grieg; and Thunder and Lightning Polka, Johann Strauss, Jr. In addition, The Youth Orchestra will give Star Dust and Dark Matter, by Gloria Coates, its world premiere. The Coates composition was commissioned for the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hoffman.
