Salzburg, Vienna, Budapest. The Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra, led by Dr. Richard Loheyde, leaves San Francisco June 19, 2018 for a 10-day tour of three musical capitals of central Europe.

The more than 70 young musicians in the Orchestra will fly into Munich then head for Salzburg, birthplace of Mozart—to this day a vibrant musical city. The young musicians will tour Salzburg and its surroundings before their first performance, on June 22, in the Grosse Saal of the Mozarteum.

The group will spend June 23–25 in Vienna, with a stop to see the Abbey at Melk on the way into the city. Highlights in Vienna will include guided tours of the Stephansdom, the Vienna Opera, and the Hofburg Palace. On the 24th, SRS Youth Orchestra musicians go to Rabenstein for an exchange and performance with a local youth orchestra. On the 25th, they will visit the Haus der Musik in the morning and participate in a workshop with Christoph Koncz of the Vienna Philharmonic later in the day.

On June 26 and 27, Orchestra members will visit Jospeh Haydn's home at Eisenstadt and visit the Esterházy Palace, including the 17th century Haydnsaal, noted for its acoustics, before arriving in Budapest, where sights will include Heroes' Square, Kossuth Square, Parliament, the Opera House, Matthias Church, St. Stephen's Cathedral, and the Liberty Monument. The evening of the 27th will bring the Youth Orchestra's third and final performance of the tour at Ceremonial Hall Budapest.
